A short film constructed from footage brought back by my sister on a trip with our grandfather and mother to Egypt. This was from a few years ago. However, my sister reported that the tourists traveled everywhere only under armed guards. It was a strange situation, I was told.
This is one segment of a larger project. While the project was not about the current situation, perhaps it is worth a revisit. The title “Born On Short Notice” comes from the larger project, a series of films that start with .00 and works up to a full episode 1. The work explores loss and memory, and uses images gathered from other people or from the toss away footage from other projects. As with many works, it is a work in progress.
